How 'bout a few ugly rumors to stir the pot?

Prophecy can be interpreted such that it doesn't paint a rosy picture for this pope's reign.

Saint Malachy's Prophecy of the Popes
"Petrus Romanus, qui paſcet oues in multis tribulationibus: quibus tranſactis ciuitas ſepticollis diruetur, & Iudex tremẽdus iudicabit populum ſuum.[71] Finis."
("Peter the Roman, who will nourish the sheep in many tribulations; when they are finished, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The end.)"
Does this indicate that a reincarnation of the Rock (the original one, St Peter) or, more likely, his namesake will take the position?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_of_the_Popes

That prophecy, &

Cayce's "The upper portion of Europe will be changed as in the twinkling of an eye …” Edgar Cayce reading 3976-15 &

the the Third Secret of Fatima's dire prediction, "the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him," (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Secrets_of_F%C3%A1tima)

"God bless us, every one..." Dickens' Tiny Tim

Peace to all,

PS 3 of the top 5 picks in the USA Today are Italian (Roman)...(http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/02/11/vatican-next-pope/1908839/)

Father Guido Sarducci? Maybe he's come up the ranks at the Vatican lately.

I can't think of any other candidates. I can think of an amazing writer who is a priest, though. Uwem Akpan is a Nigerian novelist and practicing Jesuit priest. He wrote a short story collection called "Say You're One of Them," all from the perspective of children in Africa -- street kids, trafficked kids, kids in Rwanda during the massacres. Really insightful and compassionate (and disturbing, which it's supposed to be.)

Given the growth patterns in the Catholic church, one of these decades it really will be time for an African pope. On the other hand, guess there hasn't been one from Latin America yet ...

I'll be happy to provide some music for them during the selection, though. One of the all-time greats:

Ha! The median age for the Cardinals has to be north of 75 years old. http://www.gcatholic.com/hierarchy/cardinals-alive-age.htm So the chances are good that for some indoor plumbing may not have been part of their childhood.

Though I am not a RC I hope the CoC give consideration to someone below the equator, where the strength and dynamism of RC-ism lies today. But a quick search is telling in it's uniformity of "top picks". I mean from the Burlington Free Press to delawareonline it's ther following> http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/02/11/vatican-next-pope/1908839/. Those guys must have the same publicist. But then you go here> http://allafrica.com/stories/201302120167.html and they have a different constituency and didn't get/ or chose not to print the talking points that (at least) North America received.

Hard to find someone who looks good in a penis hat.

Reminds me of a couple of George Carlin's sayings for masturbation: Boxing the Bishop and Bothering the Pope.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the next one will also hate women and gays. Just a guess.
